Due to the solid quality of the wool and the almost exclusive use of natural colors, the Gom carpet can certainly compete with other high-quality Persian carpets. In addition to good woolen carpets, a large number of silk carpets are knotted here. The motifs include square-divided garden carpets, hunting scenes, botteh motifs, central medallions and vase patterns. All are lovingly and delicately decorated. Their coloring, for which mainly natural colors are used, ranges from rich red (often coordinated with bright turquoise) to light blue, green and even brown tones. The base color is usually ivory, sometimes red is also chosen as the background color.

Despite the wide range of colours, the Gom carpet never has harsh colour contrasts, but instead pays attention to harmonious colour coordination. Also remarkable is the extremely precise knotting, which is almost reminiscent of machine work.
